Hawaii Missile Alert

In light of the recent missile alert sent out in Hawaii, warning residents that there was an ICBM inbound & to "seek immediate shelter", I want to tell you: the only thing that can truly shelter you from a close nuclear blast is the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.

 

Not a cave, as some fled to; not your bathtub; not a storm sewer, as you saw some place their children in; not in the basement of the local grocery store.

Trusting in the Lord Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins puts you under the shelter of His perfect righteousness, forgiven & accepted by God because of Jesus' death, burial and resurrection, and makes you the recipient of the gift of eternal life.

Friend, we're all going out of here: whether by a nuclear blast or a heart attack or just old age. 

ARE YOU READY IF TODAY IS THAT DAY? If not, here's an emergency alert, and it's not a drill:

Wisdom from an Old New Testament

I happened across this old New Testament yesterday. It belonged to a gentleman who went to be with the Lord in 2015, and I know little about him or his life, other than what I read in his obituary and from items found in his house. This little book was lying there, and though old, its wisdom, being the very word of God, is timeless.

I like the page titles from the flyleaf, in chronological order (salvation, then sanctification): "The Way of Life" and "How to Live the Christian Life." And I love the subsection titles "We Should Know" and "We MAY Know." The sense here is, because Jesus Christ has saved me and I am accepted in the sight of God in Him, it is POSSIBLE to know these things; we have the ABILITY to know these things; we are PERMITTED to know these things...to experience these things. Isn't that good?
